Right Directions launches new endorsed Health and Safety courses

Right Directions has launched two new endorsed health and safety courses aimed specifically at the health, fitness and leisure industry.

The Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) four-day 'Managing Safely Course'is designed for managers and supervisors in any sector and any organisation, but Right Directions brings a health, fitness and leisure focus to the programme, ensuring learners don't waste valuable time learning aspects that won't apply to their business.

Delivered by senior leisure managers who have worked in the leisure industry, delegates will be able to take back specific leisure related health and safety examples to their workplace.

Each course, which caters for up to 20 people, concentrates on practical actions staff need to take, as well as the knowledge and tools they require to tackle safety and health issues within their organisation.

Right Directions staff have been specially trained and accredited to deliver the IOSH programme, which covers areas such as assessing and controlling risks, understanding responsibilities, understanding hazards, investigating incidents, measuring performance
and protecting the environment.

"We know that getting people fully involved, having fun and learning by doing
is the best way to achieve safety and health training success,"said Gill Twell, Head of Group Operations at Right Directions. "We want delegates to really think about what they're learning -and have the confidence and enthusiasm to put it into practice when they're back at work -so that everyone notices the difference."

Memorable and thought-provoking facts and case studies help drive key messages during the course, whilst each module is backed by clear examples and recognisable scenarios, along with summaries that reinforce the pivotal learning points. The course includes practical examples and other materials for delegates to try out during the course and then use within their workplaces.
Industry professionals embarking on the course will receive a nationally-recognised and respected certificate.

In addition, the CIMSPA-endorsed 1-day 'Keeping yourself on the Right Side of the Law'course has been designed and developed by Right Directions specifically for the health, fitness and leisure industry.

Aimed at leisure staff on the first step of their management career, it provides delegates with an understanding of health and safety law requirements with information and advice tailored to the sector and acts as a taster to the IOSH course.

The training enables individuals to undertake their health and safety responsibilities and contribute to promoting a safe culture within their organisation.

On completion of the training delegates will understand why health and safety is important, the legal drivers behind it, their responsibilities within health and safety and the importance of risk management.

Caroline Constantine, Managing Director of Right Directions said: "We are really looking forward to working in partnership with CIMSPA to endorse health and safety best practice and promote the benefits that the institute's membership can bring to the sector."
